Fancy a weekend getaway? Escape the busy city and hit maximum relaxation mode? Well then, we would highly recommend a Glamping Holiday in the UK at WigWam Holidays, Forcett Grange, in Richmond, North Yorkshire.
Where is it?
WigWam Holidays, Forcett Grange location is in Richmond, North Yorkshire. And is just a short 15-minute car ride outside of Richmond Town Centre. Forcett Grange occupies an old quarry dating back to the late 1800s with each cabin named in reference to its history.
There are multiple locations (over 80!) as well across the UK, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales so there are many choices. We are sure that all of them are equally as spectacular.

What’s so great about a glamping holiday in the UK?
If you are like my husband and I and don’t want to ‘camp’ in the woods and sleep in a tent, but enjoy being outside, this is the place for you. It is the perfect glamping holiday in the UK. The site is tucked away, secluded and quiet, but has all of the amenities you could ever need.
The Cabin!
The cabin itself is picturesque, looking like it came right out of a modern-day fairytale. It is quite spacious and comfortably sleeps 2 people. However, it could easily accommodate 4 people with the extra sofa beds. The cabin’s kitchenette is fully equipped; with a sink, microwave, refrigerator, two hot plates, and all the dishwater and cookware you could need. There is also a dining table for you to sit and have your dinner if the weather isn’t agreeable.
The Fire pit and Hot tub!
Your Cabin comes with its own fire pit with a grill and private wood fire-burning hot tub.
The Sauna and the Field!
If you want to take your glamping holiday in the UK to the next level, you MUST book the Sauna at Forcett Grange. It’s reasonably priced at £20 for an hour. The Sauna is private and on-site, only a 4-minute walk up a hill from the reception.
The Sauna is a Kirami Sauna from Finland and is the perfect relaxation tool. After sitting in the sauna you can also take a cold drench shower on the deck that overlooks The Field. A beautiful two acres of English Countryside. Whether you book the Sauna in the morning or the evening, bring a book and either a coffee or glass of wine and sink into utter relaxation.
What is there to do in Richmond?
The Town of Richmond is in North Yorkshire. Random fact, did you know that Richmond is the most duplicated UK town name, with 56 copycats worldwide? Well, now you know! Richmond was founded in 1071 by Alan Rufus and was granted the land by William the Conqueror.
Richmond is a historic market town. Every Saturday, they still host a market, which is one of the largest cobbled marketplaces in England. They also are the home to the town’s 19th-century market hall which is indoors and open every day of the week. You can walk around the town and get lost in its beauty. There are many little shops, bakeries, pubs, and restaurants to fill your time. We stopped in at Wilfred Deli & Pantry on Finkle Street, and would highly suggest you do the same. You can also wander into Friars Wynd and the Friary Gardens.
Richmond Castle is perched atop the city’s highest point and is the largest Norman Castle remains in the entire UK (c. 1086). We toured the castle grounds to learn more about its history and climbed to the top of the tower. The ascent is worth the view! There is also a small museum included in the admission. You can tour the castle (pre-book here for 15% off) or pay £8.50 per adult with a £1 donation to the English Heritage. They are open Monday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.
Is there anything else to do?
Yes! There are other day trip excursions you can do if Richmond isn’t your vibe.
- The Bowes Museum
- Raby Castle
- A hike through Yorkshire Dales National Park.
- Stoney Gate Farm Shop and Cafe in Ravensworth
- Richmond Falls
- Egglestone Abbey
A few extra tips before you book your Glamping Holiday in the UK.
- Towels are included in the cabin, but we suggest you bring extra pool towels for the hot tub and the sauna (if you book it).
- Bring extra firewood, and kindling, with you. Upon arrival, you are given one bag’s worth of firewood and kindling. It wasn’t enough for us two days. Especially if you want to hot tub and grill on the BBQ frequently. No worries though! More is available at reception and is reasonably priced.
- We did not bring our dogs with us this time but will be on the next visit. It is £10 per dog extra, per night but worth it. We have some friends who stayed in the WigWam and enjoyed having their pup with them. There are so many trails and paths to explore with your furry friends it would make for a wonderful weekend for you, and them!
- There is no Wifi and mobile data works, but it is a bit spotty. Enjoy, unplug, and embrace every second of your Glamping holiday in the UK.
So great!!!!!!!
